I never understood the implications of social sciences during my college days.
That changed when I settled on branding as a career path. Branding made more sense when viewed through a social science lens since every thing you do or say must convey the same message and meaning. It certainly became vital when I entered product management.
Humans are difficult to predict. Each individual has a unique permutation and combination of preferences, habits, reasoning, feelings, and perceptions. It is imperative to understand how humans interact with products, what appeals to them, and why. A lot of that can be attributed to the individual’s exposure and participation in the world around them.
Finding a common thread requires a deeper study of human nature and the influences acting upon it.
